Mejuthaarge the messenger - Character Illustration
I'm hoping to put up two more of this character soon. Mejuthaarge was, and still kind of is, a god; but he made the others angry by tricking them and trying to eat up the earth so they demoted him to being their messenger. They changed his form, I'm going to post up his original form later, to having one of his original heads and a body of a man. I son doing forcing him to feel the limits of humanity. As the messenger of the gods he still comes up with mischief and even though his power is limited compared to what he had he is still very much capable of creating chaos.

So this is one of my Ideation methods I call 'populating'. I use populating when I first get a brief and have no visual language to readily apply to the idea. I begin by furnishing myself with the basic language I'll be using, quick ideas and sketches. This stage can take on the form of various exercises. Line ups and variations are one of them. Of course if I have a visual language already the process will usually go straight to thumbs.
Below I included the rough idea I took to the level of the sketch above.

The Three Little Zombie Pigs
I wasn't going to do a piece for the Bobby Chiu's ImagineFX and CGHUB Fairy-tale Re-imagined challenge. I hadn't even had time to look at the forum with everyone's wips. I read the details three months back but things have just been a little too intense. About three weeks or so ago I found some time. Did a few sketches and jumped right into the fray with 'The Three Little Zombie Pigs'. I altered my style to suit the black comedic/horror aspect. I'd love to post some close ups for the detailing and paint marks to be seem more clearly. Thinking about it. You'll find the WIP thread here: WIP!!

more speed painting...
Here is another speed painting from the experiment I mentioned in my previous post. I decided to do this one in color for variation. I'm enjoying the quick and dirty instant gratification of speed painting. I wanted to add a few fish and spawn more jellies but its just a speed painting sketch so I didn't get round to it.

MAMORUS
Quick Sketch, pencil in sketchbook. 'Mamorus', for lack of a better name.
Part of my ideation process. Alien creature inhabiting ice and water moon of a larger planet. As a means to remember and for personal comparisons I've decided to write down which hand I used for each thing I post. This one, done with my left hand.

Pencil Sketch, Inked and Colored: part of sequential art.
Working on some sequential art. Here is the pencil sketch of one of the panels called 'spotted'. The first jpg is as it appears in my sketch book. The second is of the image cleaned up a little digitally. Next up inking and coloring.
...and a close up:

Surprise Assault at the Gate
'Urduin faces his doom' is the alternate name for this piece. Urduin steps forward, unprepared with his armor hardly on, to face what most likely will be his end. He looks back at us frozen in the moment as the huge Red crawls down the cliff to the gate. Hope you like it.

Night Interrupted
Illustration:
Fairies, brownies, pixies, elves or just plain fairy tale folk. The backstory behind this illustration is that of a woodland night interrupted by a hungry creature. The creature might be looking for bugs only. It might want to eat the little folk as a night time snack. So either they're in mortal danger or they're really upset about their family home being trashed. If you opt for the ‘on the menu’ interpretation then the picture is supposed to show tension between the tight group as they try to remain hidden (they’re very obviously not doing very well at that) and the creature as it turns its head towards them. Don't worry kids they'll probably get away ;) .
